According to the KPMG Advisory report Exploring Global Frontiers 2009 – The New Emerging Destinantions Gdańsk is the only Polish, and one of eight European cities, considered to be the most attractive locations for BPO-IT centres. Gdańsk's greatest assets include:
- availability of highly-qualified specialists,
- relatively low production costs,
- good infrastructure,
- considerable attractiveness of living in the city.
Gdańsk Metropolitan Area is currently the largest urban agglomeration in Northern Poland. Its investment attractiveness stems from a great potential in a variety of areas:
- over 1.3 million inhabitants,
- over 90,000 students,
- 30 institutions of higher education, including 20 in Gdańsk itself: Gdańsk University, Gdańsk University of Technology, Medical University of Gdańsk,
- international airport, Gdańsk-Rębiechowo, with terminal II and a subsidiary airport in Gdynia under construction,
- construction of A1 motorway and express roads within the agglomeration,
- rapid growth of transshipment ports in Gdańsk and Gdynia,
- connections to nearly 90 ports in 40 countries worldwide.
